Default New 2003 Discovery HSE need help

Just bought an HSE 2003 Discovery with 94--- miles on it. I wanted this because they drive like tanks and I love to tinker. The first day I had it I put new rear airbags on it and I am in the process of installing new stereo.

I could use some advice though on the door locks and the alarm system.

The FOB I have does not operate the locks and the key will not open the door. However the key will turn the ignition and the car will run and drive fine. I have read many posts about, transit mode, how to retrain your fob etc... But nothing works. The door switch on dash works, I just can't lock or unlock from outside the vehicle. Preventing me from driving it and leaving it at work.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Heck it there is someone that can talk me through this I gladly pay for their time. I have called a dealer and of course they want an appt. I live 2.5 hours from nearest dealership.

I hear the door locks get sticky from years of not being used. Try lubing it and letting it sit, then using your key, gently work it back and forth and see if it moves. If not, you might have a replacement lock-set or something.

FOB is something for someone else to help with. I don't know much about them, except to change the battery.
