IMHO it may be simpler, he may have "discovered" a dead battery one morning, but truck was locked the night before. He replaced battery and did some other wiring with hood switch not depressed. Truck woke up and thought it should be immobilized. Bet it could happen to lots of owners.

I have seen these guys go round and round with problems until they are figured out.
