New to the forum
Hello, everyone. My name is Mike. I'm new to the forums here
I purchased a 2000 Discovery 2 a few months back from a coworker. I purchased it for very little money due to it needing some mechanical work: Brake lines (plus calipers, rotors, and pads), window regulator, battery, and ignition coil. All has been replaced and I'm about $2500 USD into it total (initial cost, labor, parts, registration, inspection, beer etc.). So far I'm satisfied and the thing is less daunting to work on than people make it out to be... except I had to buy a more powerful impact gun and metric 12pt impact sockets.
I'll update my post with photos. I have some from the day I initially bought it and what it looks like now. It's coming along. Also, the car has an even layer of scale rust across the frame. It's mostly surface rust with no holes in the frame. I am slowly (due to the snow/weather) removing rust and coating the frame with por15 piece by piece. I plan to spray fluid film (undercoating goop) in the crevices and frame rails once this step is complete.
Anyway, I ran into an issue I can't figure out. A few nights ago I replaced the battery cables since they were corroded at the crimps and connections. Upon reinstalling the battery my radio no longer powers on. All other electronics function without issue. I read that this could be some sort of anti-theft lockout feature and I am curious what I should be looking for. All of the main fuses under the hood are fine. Although, I am unable to check the radio fuse itself (I do not have the specialized tool to remove the head unit). The car has the plain single din head unit.

If your head unit has 4 small holes, you can make the tool with a coat hanger bent into U shapes. You'll be able to feel when the pins loosen then she just pulls out (phrasing). If it's not that type, you can get 2 butter knives and slide them on the slim side of the radio (east, west so to speak), then gently press the handles together so the blades push away from each other. The unit should slide out fairly easily that way as well. If not, any car audio shop will be able to extract it for you, most will even do it free or just give you the tools since they come with every radio
If not a fuse, be aware the anti-Theft feature requires a PIN number to reactivate the radio after a power loss. You can call US Land Rover customer service with your VIN number to prove ownership and which PIN to give you.
