Default New knocking noise when shifting gears

I have a 2003 discovery with about 116k miles, after work got out I got in my car and started it up, put it in reverse and a loud knock was made after it shifted to reverse, then that I put it into drive, again it knocked. The knock sounds like a knock on a door but more mechanical. After I arrived home I had my dad jump in the car and change from drive to reverse, I got below the car and looked for anything abnormal. I could hear the noise louder, it sounded like it was coming from the general area of the transfer case. Any thoughts?

do a thread search, do a google search, do a Youtube search. Tons and tons of info on this specific to Disco2. You will be better off researching this yourself. you can learn everything there is to know about that driveshaft in 30 minutes. I would replace it like yesterday, as the Ujoint will fail while you are driving down the road at whatever speed, and when it does, it damages other things like the transmission. I read where it busts the front housing of the tranny and you have to replace the whole thing! get on it dude.

don't drive it, especially over 30 MPH until you find out what the issue is

Alright, that is probably the best option for now

alright sounds like a plan! The vibration seems to be getting worse, so I still stop driving it for now

Alright I figured it out, bad driveshaft. The knocking was driveshaft hitting itself cause bad bearings.
