Default New rover with a few problems

So I recently bought my first 97 land rover discovery with 130k on it for $3000. It has a handful of (mostly electrical issues) that I have already fixed myself (I am an MECP certified 12 volt tech) I was driving home and my check engine light came on,I had autozone read the code and it gave me P1317 which has something to do with ABS system. after some investigating I found the truck does have ABS but the fuses were pulled (as I have read on here before) and the ABS bulb on the dash was removed. I dont mind not having the ABS system but I would prefer not to have the CEL on. so my question is if the ABS is disabled will that cause the CEL to trigger or is this just one of those tricky fault codes that should just go away with a reset? My other question is my emmision test will be do next year and I need to know if this CEL code is going to be an issue for that? (doubt anyone knows the rules for AZ testing but thought I would ask)

Yes the CEL being on will not let you pass emissions testing, they will send you packing before taking your money.
The ABS and CEL are on two seperate systems, you must use a TestBook or AutoLogic PC type scanner to read ABS codes.
YOu need to find out why your CEL is on and correct that problem, most likely cause for the CEL is radom mis fires and O2 sensor codes.
A good tune up will take care of both of those codes.
www.atlanticbritish.com, Magnecor plug wires only or the codes will come back in a month or so.
Make sure that you only run premium gas, and read the tech tips on AB's home page.

just thought I would do a follow up, I checked the codes for the ABS light and found 4 codes, 3 pointing to the drivers front sensor and 1 saying no power to ABS system (guessing since the fuse was pulled.) cleared all codes and cleaned the drivers front sensor, after a long vigorous test drive I did not recieve an ABS light so I think it may have just been a dirty sensor! hope the light stays off and my check engine light goes away since I am under the impression that the dirty sensor caused my CEL as well (that was the best answer for that fault code I could find)

The only way the CEL will go out is with a scanner.
