Default New Tires

I've been wanting to get new tires for my 04 disco for the past year. Never got it for for some reason....
Anyway, it really is time to change them. I am thinking of buying the Cooper Discoverer HTP (pun intended). I want the standard OEM size, 255/55/R18. Right now, I can get them for $700 out the door installed.
Are they good tires?
Anything similar for the same price?
Thanks in advance.

BTW: I do light off-roading, some snow. I have Continental Extreme Contact UHPs right now and I haven't had any traction issues.

If you weren't set on sticking with stock size, a 265/65r18 fits nicely and looks really good at stock height. No rubbing, even at full lock and full articulation with both sways disconnected.

I've got the Discoverer AT3 and love them, but I don't know about the ones you're looking at.

265/65/r18 woukd be nice, but doesn't that put a lot of extra stress on the car? (Thats why I didn't lift my D2) Wouldn't it also make the speedometer inaccurate?
I'm not an expert on tires, this is just what I have heard over the years.
I am comfortable with going to a 245/60/18. I think that increases the size from 29" to 29.6", so it's not a huge increase. If I go with this size, I would get the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Ecopia for $133 a tire (cheaper than stock).
Any thoughts?

I ran 265/65/18 on mine and had some minor rubbing at full lock. No issues running them and it actually made my speedo exactly right according to the gps.

The rubbing worries me, even if it is only minimal. Would a 265/60/18 solve that problem? Now that I know that a tire size increase will not harm the truck, I am willing to buy a larger size.
I am thinking of buying these: Tire Details - America's Tire

Thanks for the input.

I'm running 255/60-18's and there aren't any issues with them. The next time I need tires, I'm planning on going up to a 265/60-18.
