New to Us 2001 Discovery II
Front driveshaft update: finally got in touch with someone in the "know". Turns out where I am there no one who does it locally. There's a place that ships them to a shop a couple hours away. I'm calling to get a price but sounds like about $250. If so I'm going to just pick up a new one.
Make sure you get a new SERVICEABLE drive shaft... A new OEM one would cost more and give you less.
As for shocks and springs, same thing, Don't go OEM, costs more, wears out faster. There are plenty of threads on here, as well as the google, with a whole lot of opinions.... Should make for some good reading... Once you've read all that ask some questions here if you still have any.
180 stat you should go OEM. Its around $60. I got mine from Lucky 8 LLC.
Once you get your Ultragauge read your codes. They are all searchable with plenty of discussion of the most common ones here. You didn't mention if you have an warning lights on the dash. One important thing to check is the bulb self check sequence at start up. Every light on the dash should light up when you first turn the key. If any stay dark they are probably ON and the display has been tampered with.

Dave03S: No warning lights or codes that I know of and the lights do flash momentarily upon turning the key so I don't think they've been covered or disabled.
I've got the thermostat bookmarked and will be ordering today for sure. Should I wait to flush the coolant until the new 180 gets here and do it all at once?
As for the driveshaft what are the front runners for purchase? We won't be doing a lot of off-roading so we don't need a heavy duty one (if there is such a thing but I think I read somewhere in here that there was). Just an improved / serviceable version of the stock.
I'll also do some searching for suspension on here.

Can anyone tell me the part number of the electric fan? I think she's spent and need to replace it. I'm assuming it would be from one of the standard online retailers? Rovers North, Rock Auto, etc.?
I tried to search real quick without any luck and I hoping to get some of these parts ordered today.
