Hi,
I’m new to Rovers and have a couple of questions. My Disco has an overflow tube on the overflow tank that is letting some antifreeze out each time I drive it, which requires topping off every 3-4 days; is that normal? Also while underneath the truck I noticed a hole on the bel housing on the passenger side the size of a silver dollar. I didn’t think it should be left uncovered as FOD would get in there so I plugged it up with some dense foam temporarily until I learn the correct application. Here is a photo.
Thanks

Hi, welcome here.
1. If it was me, I’d let the antifreeze level go a little lower and see if it stabilizes. It’s possible that the level that your vehicle will stabilize at is a little lower than the full line on your reservoir. Don’t let the level get too low though. Yes it’s normal for the reservoir to blow excess fluid out.
2. The hole on your Bell Housing originally had a rubber plug. At the age of our vehicles the rubber has perished and departed. The plug is available. Mines also missing but I haven’t got a new one yet.

How many miles on your D2? Spitting out coolant can be from a number of things like clogged radiator, air in system, clogged heater core, cracked pressure cap. What work have you done? do you know the history?

She has 88k miles on her. I don’t know if she has been flushed. I recently purchased her. Is it a non-pressurized system that overflows onto the ground? My other cars don’t have an overflow to the ground. Like a closed system or something. Not sure.

It is pressurized but excess fluid spits out. There are some closed systems on some cars but this is a very common system.

I'd start with a new cap.

Agreed. The expansion tank caps are made to release at a specified pressure (18 psi?). It's expected that they will need to be replaced periodically.
