Default Newbie w/ A Question

So I've had my 2003 Disco a few days and this morning I noticed a "damp spot" under the very front of the truck in my driveway, so I look underneath thinking it might be Coolant and nope, all the way at the front where (I guess) the steering arms are, there is what appears to be (reddish colored liquid) Transmission fluid. I looked at the front driveshaft and it was clean and looked rather new. Is there a transmission cooler or something up there that could leak?

Help me diagnose this one please

Yep, all D2 have a tranny cooler between AC condenser and engine radiator. Some have a second one for oil cooler, depends on VIN. Look in power steering jug and see if fluid is same color. Some older Discos run ATF as PS fluid, and someone may have made a mistake. Some PS fluid "boosters" or "stopz leakz" are red in color.

Shop manual is called the RAVE and is a free download below.

2 important noobie points - the front drive shaft if oem has sealed grease fittings on one end. Which will split with almost no warning and thrash trasmission case until a $7000 hole is made. Rebuild in advance (our tech area write up) or after market replace. The temp gauge is programmed to point at 50% from about 130 - 240F. You can't tell if you are running too hot2trot until too late, unless you use a scanner or Ultra Gauge ($70).

The shop manual shows the way, you have to fill it until a certain size bead drools out. Because owners are too stupid to read oil pressure gauges, transmission dip sticks, or even operate a CDL. Only an obnoxious maximus Rover engineer could believe that we would only take vehicles to dealerships. But they are trying their best to make us spend all our money at authorized dealers.

The spec from the maintenance area of the workshop manual (page 141) is :

With engine idling, continue filling gearbox until
a 2 mm bead of oil runs from oil filler/level plug

hole.

Interesting... So the only way to check it is to open the fill plug. OK and these take standard Transmission fluid?
