No Drive!!!
I would say because of the loud clunking sound that it has been doing for the last couple weeks. But it would never do it while I was looking for it and it has had what I thought to be an extensive amount of travel in the ring gear to pinion ever since I got it.
Even that is most likely too old of a production date, Rover ran out of the old style t/cases just after the middle of the production date, maybe around April or May.
It is easier and cheaper to replace the nose assembly, linkage and Hi/Lo shift plate on your current t/case then buy and install a used one that may already have mechanical issues, all for around $250 in parts and your labor.
Find out how many miles on those 99 parts, you don't want to buy a diff that is already warn out. Beside, you first need to find out if the spider gears or the cc joints failed before you do anything.
