If the timing isn't correct valves will be opening/closing in the wrong sequence which could possibly be hitting the pistons.

Pulled it apart back down to the timing chain. Crank will not turn with chain off, What should I be looking for?

Well at this point you are in a weird place, I would pull the front cover and check the oil pump make sure it has not bound up. If the oil pump is good, you try using an inspection camera to check the pistons via the spark plug holes.

But my gut says pull the top end so you can remove the valve covers and rocker arms and try turning it over by hand. If that fails you are down to dropping the pan.

I have the front cover and pan pulled. I'm thinking heads need to come off but before I go that deep I'm hesitant because it drove to where it is parked. I think I royally screwed the pooch on the timing... The only thing I can think of is putting the chain on and rotating the cam to see if I can turn the crank backwards,I dont know, any suggestions?

With the chain off you should get some sort of clockwise/counter clockwise movement from the crank As it's no longer connected to the top end. Just for kicks remove the starter & see if it'll rotate (starter could be stuck/engaged) to the flexplate.

Starter is removed too. I have a spare crank gear and I put some vice grips on it and tried to spin the crank shaft either direction, nothing.. Im perplexed because when I first tore everything down The crank spun fine and I had to "block" the crank to loosen the crank bolt. My problems started when I was fiddling around with the cam and crank gears and timing chain, I noticed that the timing chain was tight on both sides on opening it back up now..

Can you take a few pictures of the timing gears, crank shaft gear especially.

And just so l got this right in my brain...

Oil pump failed, towed home, drove it 50 feet with no oil pressure (not good, but shouldn't seize engine), sat eight months(no biggy), you finally make repairsand crank rotates easily throughout the whole process of installing new oil pump and timing set, you finish installing the rest of the items, hamonic balancer and pullies/belt, etc, then you try to start it and it won't turn/crank over by starter, so, you charged battery, checked starter, still won't crank over by starter, so...you remove starter, front cover/oil pump, timing chain...and you say it still won't rotate by hand, not even a smidgen, either direction, correct?
