I could see how if it sat for 8 months and water (humidity) got into a cylinder it could corrode and seize but you mentioned you had it turning right before the timing chain job. This makes it weird still. Glad you got it to turn over at least.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. How could you have it turning over to install timing chain and gears...and then when you finish assembly...it doesn't turn over. It sat for eight months...prior/before...to the timing chain and gears...??? Anyhow, weirdest topic...in a while. Yep, glad it's going back together.

It was turning during the timing chain refit but I also mentioned that I thought it was hard to turn. Ive never tried turning the crank on a rover before so I was also asking if it was normal for it to feel like that. I never had to do a full rotation either, it was pretty much dead on as far as the timing marks are concerned when I originally did it. Yes, I should have turned it over once after the new gears and chain were installed but I didnt, this time I will not skip that step, lol. Pain in the butt for sure but at least it got some other new parts. Still waiting for my bearings but I have the top end all reinstalled.

Glad to hear your rover is back on the road to recovery.

Yeah, this is the difficult part of giving advice over the net. What may seem difficult to you, difficulty of turning crank, may seem okay to me, or vice versa. Engines with plugs in can be difficult to turn over, but explaining "how" difficult...is difficult...if that makes sense...lol.

I'm just glad you didn't go through the bother of pulling the heads.
