Default Noisy alternator. Can bearings be replaced?

99 Disco. Alternator is charging OK, but making a loud whirring sound. Thinking its a failing bearing. Wondering if these can be replaced?

Also, The best price I see for a reman unit is from CARID for $115. Seems reasonable,..any other suggestions?

Yes, bearings can be replaced. I think I saw the tutorial here some place. Search is your friend.

I bought mine from a place in Texas that specializes in alternators. Don't remember the name, but I'm super happy with the product.

Make it a spare and get a good rebuilt unit.

Default Alternator is fixed, cost $5.96

Took the alternator off, and removed the cover and regulator, then the 4 screws to separate the two halves. Got lucky, it was the rear bearing that was making the noise. Tried pulling the bearing off with a cheap puller, and the puller bent,....so,...found a local alternator repair shop this morning,....and they had the replacement bearing is stock and even pulled the old one off and installed the new one. Total cost was $5.96 for parts, and no charge for labor. Gotta love it.

About an hour to an hour and a half total in labor and back on the road.
