Default Non sai ecu swap

So I’m in the middle of a head gasket and front cover job in my 04 disco and while scrubbing my engine clean, the thought of deleting the SAI occurred to me

after a bit of googling I discovered this has been performed successfully. My state, Connecticut, has emissions testing and an SES light will cause me to fail

So, I’ve found a non SAI ECU for prices that are worthwhile to me and I’m wondering what else I need to be concerned with doing the ecu swap.

i know I need to plug all the sai holes but that’s East. If I plug in a new ecu, will the mileage on the odometer change, anything else weird? I don’t have or know if the means to reprogram an ecu if need be

The VIN of your vehicle includes coding that says it has an SAI system. Testing equipment will fail you if it doesn't find it.

You will have to get a new instrument cluster with the ECU otherwise the OD will flash at you

It’s not just a BCM/pcm/cluster swap, it is also a couple other emissions parts too. Tank pressure valve and the wiring that goes attatched.

Maybe somebody smarter than me can figure out if we can just put a fake load on the SAI plug and fool the computer into thinking that all is well.

Yeah... like put a restrictor/pressure snubber in the air line system to keep constant pressure.

Pressure won't help with the detection of the electronic components.
Why not just keep the system in place if it's operational?
