Given your location you might want to do it from the top. 4 bolts will get the console out, you will have to drill the rivets out of the tunnel cover, but once out you can easily access the shift mechanism. If you dream of a CDL shifter now would be the time.

Yes I may just have to do that but I have a friend who is going to give me a hand in getting this problem fixed... this was supposed to be my daily driver for the winter so it puts me in a pretty bad spot not having a car for work.
