Default O2 Sensor Repair

I have researched all sorts of methods to remove an O2 sensor. Upon closer review it looks like it is solidly rusted together. I broke a couple extensions trying to pull it off, The 02 wrench splays apart.

Is it worth fighting it to get it out? Or, should I just cut the section of the pipe, and clamp in the below with two exhaust clamps? This would certainly be faster and probably less painful.

Any other ideas I should consider?

Thanks

I used a cast heavy duty O2 sensor remover and penetrating oil and heat, but I did have the Y pipe off the car which really helped. also, you can just buy the bung and weld it in if old bung gets ruined....

You can cut the wire off and use a deep well impact socket. I have also seen people put a hose clamp over the 02 sensor socket to keep it from splaying open. Soak it in aerokrol for 3 or 4 days, spray it every day. The aerokroil will usually loosen it. And yes, worst come to worst, take it to muffler shop and they will cut the bung out and weld a new one in.

I damaged the wire, so there is no signal, which is giving me a light. So, now I am committed. The wire was bad for a long time, I just finished it off. Going to try soaking for several more days, then a 22mm box wrench. It almost looks like it is rusted into one piece. maybe a cut off wheel where the bung and o2 sensor touch?

Yeah, if you are that committed you could cut the top of the sensor off and then use an impact socket on a long breaker bar. Keep soaking in the aerokroil.
