O2 sensor and seafoam
Hi Guys,
Just to confirm: the front O2 sensor from Bosch is: 15175 and the rear oxygen sensors after the CAT CON is: 15738 .... right !?! Replaced one (pass side/front) and NFG so I'm going to do the other 3.
In another thread I heard about a guy with the same kind of error codes and he was told to use some engine throttle body cleaner - you just spray it in while the truck is running right? So what is this seafoam stuff I hear about? What is it and what does it do?
I'm going to replace the plugs - any suggestions - I have some platinum things (or something in there now - can't remember) I replaced them when I put in the new
fancy plug wires ....
Cheers'
Dave

Davecason is right. the rear should be 15630, well at least on my 01 d2 its a 15630.
Throttle body cleaner would be used to clean the throttle body and the IAC valve. there are a couple videos that show how to clean the throttle body and the IAC valve.
The seafoam would be sucked into the intake via the small fitting on the plenum at a slow rate (so it wont stall the engine) until half the can is gone. then turn off engine and leave it off for 15 - 30 minutes. then start the truck. it should / will poor white smoke out of the exhaust for 10 minutes or so. might run a little ruff when you first start. but it should run fine after 30 seconds or so.
I used the whole can, lol.

it will help remove some deposits and whatnot. im not 100% sure. I just did it after I seen several people talking about it and how it seemed to increase throttle response and be a little more peppy. which I did notice a difference.
these are the plugs and wires that I have.
Bosch platinum plus 4 w/ Kingsborne 8mm IGN 790
here is post on another forums talking more about seafoam http://www.landroversonly.com/forums...leaning-35307/

I Just got back from my buddy's house and he put new plugs in so thats - that !
I also have 4 new o2 sensors so that's one thing less to read in the scan tool .....
We're still seeing a mis-fire on CYL 2 the pass side front plug. He suggested I pull the wire and measure the resistance - he said I should see 2000-8000 ohms and if its over 20,000 replace it. I did that 100,000 km ago with a whoile new set so maybe that wire went bad.
The two codes he says he's seeing now is: P0302 and sometimes P0300 ..... any other ideas out there guys?
What trans fluid is on those trucks BTW?
Cheers'

P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected; Excess emissions/catalyst damaging level of misfire detected on more than one cylinder
P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected; Fuel injector cylinder 2 excess emission/catalyst damaging level of misfire
there's a few discussions here on the forums about misfires. most seem to do with wires and or plugs. When I was getting a misfire when I bought the truck. I replaced the plugs, wires and coil packs.
on the transmission fluid. this is a quote from another post. "Any of the Dextron 3's will be just fine"

it was tuff, but it can be done without removing the plenum. just have to wedge hand in there. and use an extension to get the bolts out. don't drop a bolt or it might be lost. I lost my socket. it came off as I was trying to take bolt out. lol.
just pull the upper intake, flip the gasket over and reuse it.
it only takes about twenty-thirty minutes to get it out of your way.
no need to remove it from the engine compartment you just need to move it out of your way.
