Default OBD2 port doesn't work

I have an 02 Disco. I have a " Service Engine Soon" light but no obvious issues; runs great. I tried to read the codes with my OBD2 reader and it does not even light up?

Any ideas?

this is the routing of power to the connector,
engine fuse box link 3 50 amp to
interior fuse box fuse number 20 15 amp to
header 0289 to
diagnostic connector.

If above doesn't work. Try plugging in your reader in another car, if it still doesn't light up, then your reader is bad. I never heard of an odb port going bad, but anything is possible.
