Hello Roverers!

I would like your input on what type of gas are you fillin' your Discos with (87 or 91), and why are you using it?

The reason I asked is cuz I've always used 87 since I had my 2002 Disco SII, but two fills ago I mistakenly filled the tank with 91, and I felt the truck responding better, so I filled it up again with 91 -yes is a 40 cents difference, but is it worth it at this point in time?

Your feedback will be very much appreciated, thank you all! ;-]#

My gas door says to use premium only (93) and that is what I use. Can't comment on anything else

Shell V-Power 93.

Only time I used regular (87) was during Hurricane Sandy when the only thing you could get was regular. Who knows, that stuff was probably 79 but the time everything was said and done.

The manual states minimum octane of 92 which is hard to find. I've tried every grade pretty extensively and after all my testing, all I run is 93 octane. Usually Shell if I can fond it, despite the cost difference.

Only Premium like the sticker says...The only time I've had a cylinder miss fire was when I was running cheaper reg unleaded from the only gas station for many miles around, out in the middle of the desert (I had no choice). I also notice a difference in MPG's with premium too.

Man, that sucks.

I get 40mpg, rolling downhill in neutral with a tailwind.

I know man, I know. I think mine could break the high teens mpg, if it was falling off a cliff. The guys claiming high teens and 20's mpg!? Come on man!!! I am sure one will chime in here shortly with tales of a cross country drive and 21mpg.

I keep records for all my vehicles using fuelly.com
I'm currently at 11.6mpg overall on the D2, but that's with only a dozen fills since I've owned it. The lowest I've recorded since doing the head gaskets is 10.7; highest is 14.3. I used regular octane once before doing the gaskets and it ran like crap. Threw some Seafoam in the tank to make it a bit happier and have only used Premium since then.

I offset this with a 40+mpg bike and my wife's 65mpg Vespa...
