Living in America's paradise comes with a hefty price...

the island is 7 miles by 21 miles

We have

2 kmarts (one never stocked)
2 mc donalds (neither serve the full menu of the state side ones)
2 kfc's
3 subways,
1 Pizza Hut
2 Dominos
1 make shift Ace Hardware store
1 Napa (which only stocks 1/4 of a state side store)
1 movie theater with 6 screens and AUDITORIUM STYLE seating...no stadium style.
1 Hospital
1 Radio Shack
1 ATT Wireless store
1 Srint Wireless Store
3 Grocery stores with JACKED up food prices!!

***We drive on the left with LHD cars!! (The virgin islands was owned by denmark before purchased by US.)

_Stores close early ... No late night runs to ANYWHERE....
_no Walgreens, CVS, etc.
_no Autozone, Discount, Pep boys, Midas, etc
_no stateside banks (I used to be military so i have USAA)

***MOST importantly... NO WAL-MART!!!!!***

I moved down here a year ago from Tampa, Florida with my gf....

.... I miss the states...

USAA ROCKS. I have my bank accounts, insurance and both my vehicles financed with them. I haven't found any insurance company that even comes close to USAA's rates.

I'm jealous of your off-road trip. That was some beautiful scenery. I've had my Rover since July and it hasn't made it off-road yet. It's killing me.

Full Coverage on my 97 is only $240 for 6 months. I was shocked when I found that out. I was expecting a whole lot more. That online deposit is super convenient. I can't figure out why other banks aren't doing it.

Wow...I wanna play.

Amazing how brush guards kill your approach angle [&o]

Is it tricky offroading with all the switches and settings in the Disco? I love the simplicity of my Blazer...throw it it 4hi use the tires and power till stuck, 4lo to get out, repeat. I would feel overwhelmed in a Disco I think..

The G4 belongs to my friend Arthur. He bought it cheap at an auction. I have the silver 03.

Wolfpack- The only switches or settings I have are HDC (Hill Descent Control) and a "Mode" switch on the transmission gear indicator panel that allows you to have "S" Sport mode (Used for winding hilly roads as it delays shift points holding gears longer. or "M" Manual mode which allows you to shift as a manual transmission in LOW range only.

Then we have HI/LO range and for some lucky ones, HI/LO Lock which locks the transfer case.

But for Off roading, I have yet to use the Manual mode... and when descending I usually put it in a low gear to use engine braking....maybe press HDC once in a while...

IMO it couldn't be simpler.. BUT this is my 1st 4x4 rig so I wouldn't know otherwise. I am very comfortable with my rig in it's stock form and know what IT and I are capable off... at first I was overwhelmed and wondered what setting to use or what range to have it in, but after a while you learn your rig and figure out what is best for the situation at hand.

I have learned how to brake with my left foot and gas with the right while driving in the city to improve my off road "foot work". Going up a steep hill i have had to stop then go again and knowing how to brake with the left and gas with the right prevents the rolling back that can sometime occur.

Im sure ppl on this forum do that! Its helpful for me... I've only had my Disco for 3 months but I have been in love with them for the last 10 years...

Its a dream come true ...
