Default Oil Filter Adapter Removal

Can anyone give me a hint on how to get my oil filter adapter to release from the front cover plate of my Discovery? I have pulled all 4 of the retaining bolts but all it seems to want to do now is spin in circles and not pull off. I don't want to try prying it off or persuade it without advice. I need to remove it to fit it to the new cover plate I have ordered due to my water pump failing and eating the cover and pump assembly. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I had the same problem. Try a hammer/mallet at an angle to get it to pop off. Could also try wedging something soft (not a screwdriver) and prying it apart against one of the lips... there's at least one spot that is possible to get leverage on. I can't remember exactly how I ended up getting mine off... but it must have been a combination of everything.

Default That worked

Yes indeed. She pulled right off with a bit of non threatening leverage. Thanks.
