Hello I Just Replaced my oil at 5000km and I noticed the there was a large amount of oil under the Front right tire, on a plastic cover (From drivers perspective).

I'm not sure where the oil is from but here seems to be the source, and I'm not really sure what I am looking at.


My dad (I am 17, P plater) thinks it might have something to do with the Steering assist, which we then looked at the lid for the tank and noticed where there wasn't any seal.


So does anyone have any idea what and where this oil is coming from?
Also does anyone know if there is meant to be a seal on the lid?

And lastly this is a slightly different topic but does anyone have any suggestions where to get a new oil sump drain nut... (It was put in too tight by the previous mechanic)?
And lastly any suggestions for a replacement here?

I say go to the car wash and gently wash/degrease that area. Then see where the oil comes back from.

 

D2's take power washing very well as long as you do not have the factory grey plug wires. If you have them, you now have 2 reasons to up-grade to a new set of 8 mm silicone wires like STI's or Magenacor's.
Then power washing your entire engie, bottom first and you will get a better idea what is leaking.

 

You can get a new drain plug at any autoparts store, take your old on in and match it up with a new one.
