Default Oil leak in my 04

When I was under the 04 yesterday I wiped down just about everything underneath so I could get back under it and see if I could tell where the big leaks are coming from. So I crawled under today after a roughly 10 mile drive.
Its got a lot of oil dripping down the oil filter. It is on tight. That was completely clean this morning. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Maybe the o ring seal failed on the oil filter

Sure looks like it! It’s blowing oil around quite a bit. It’s on the steering damper, sway bar and front axle. It’s about due an oil change so I guess Ill find out.

Check the large 7/8 plugs for the 99-02 oil cooler line ports. You have an 04 so instead you have large plugs vs lines. They can seep/leak, and if the leak is above that it’s either the oil pan gasket or front timing cover.

Definitely have a look around the Oil Filter Adapter (#7 in pic).
If that's the source of the leak then the O ring is toast.
First check if the 4 bolts that hold the adapter on are tight, but it's still good practice to replace the o ring.

my 04 does the same thing using M1 oil filters. I may change to K&N next time to see if the drip stops.

If you have not done the PCV mod it may be leaking at the cam sensor, if you do the PCV mod all your top end leaks will go away.
