Default oil pressure check

i finally got around to buying a oil pressure tester frrom harbor freight.
here are my results

using 20-50 oil with 3000 miles since last oil change
today was 70 degrees out

cold idle: 40 psi
cold 2000 rpm: 60 psi

hot idle: 13 psi
hot 2000 rpm: 35psi

the engine tick started about 16 psi. my guess is that one or two hydrolic lifters are not getting enough oil after the engine warms up.. Time for new main and rod bearings.. Thank to rover master tech i will be doing this my self in my garage...

Only your hot 2000 RPM is slightly low, I would not jump into bearings. Have you ever replaced the oil pump set, what about the chain? At your mileage, that is where I would start after pulling the valve train and doing a very close inspection of the rocker arm, push rods lifters and especially the cam lobes, which at your mileage are most likely pretty warn which would be common for a Rover cam with your mileage.

I have to say I'm with Mike on this one. No sense in throwing parts at it. 20-50 oil is pretty thick. Where are you located? (climate wise) What about a bottle of marvels mystery oil? I had a slight lifter tick and that seems to quiet it down. It doesn't solve the problem by any means, it quiets it down significantly though!
