and sure the chamfered edge of the outer gear faces down into the timing cover. While apart may want to look at the relief valve for scoring, etc.

the factory gears have a tapper that the aftermarket gears do not, so unless you put in LR oem gears it probably isn't your problem.

I will pull the pan and front cover again and check it out. Thanks guys. I'll get back to you shortly, hopefully with some pics. Is it OK to pull the bearings and reinstall if they check out? Or do I need new bolts.
