Default Oil Pump Problem/Sources

Hello again,

Quite a few hits on this topic since I started w/ this forum. As I posted before I have a 03 Disco w/ 36,000 miles in great shape/well cared for. 10mos out of warranty. Oil Pump blew up last week. Land Rover Hinsdale is stating all I need is a new pump w/ a new front cover (which it blew a whole through) for 1700 dollars. Currently working w/ Customer Care Land Rover (8006376837) to hopefully obtain "goodwill gesture." Hilarious considering this is a known manufacture problem. This whole thing is wrong. A company like Land Rover should stand by there products. If you are having this problem check out this site http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/(it is the national highway traffic safety administration) Go to complaint section and check under engine cooling problems, there are quite a few complaints under both 03 Discovery and Disco II. People can file a complaint and eventually the government may get involved for recalls. If they do not cover this I have a game plan together: local news, auto show in chicago, this forum, personal emails from people w/ same experiences, people affiliated w/ Land Rover, and evntually lawyers. Hopefully they wake up and just repair what they designed/constructed wrong.
