Oil Pump Problem VIN Search
New Member Question ...
How does one go about determining if a 04' Disco II SE7 VIN is "outside" of the Oil Pump Concerns that I gather were predominately in 03' models ?
Thanks.

search for "death vin" There are a handful of historical threads here containing lists of VIN numbers on the naughty list, but again even if you find a Rover with a running engine on the road today, you shouldn't worry about it. Either the pump has been replaced or it's a unicorn.

Frankly, the bin range doesn't matter anyway. The ones that went went super early. Like 15-20k miles. The fact is that all these trucks like to eat oil pumps. If you've got one that's at 100k miles you should replace the oil pump. They're pretty cheap through Lucky 8. Id also replace it any time I had the front cover off for any reason. I just consider it a maintenance item.
like the previous posters said, it wouldn't have lasted this long. For peace of mind, maybe bring the vin to a LR dealership or call one, and have them check and see if the engine was replaced.
