Default Oil in Ram Housing?

OK... 94' D1 w/ 101K
In the process of changing the Intake Manifold Gasket...

Removed the Plenum and Ram Housing.
Inside the Ram Housing I found what looks to be carbonated oil residue. About a month prior to this job we ran a full bottle of Sea Foam thru the brake vacuum line. I expected some dirt... but not this. (please see first two pictures, RamHousing1, and RamHousing2). Is this normal? When we removed the actual housing all of the bolts were dry and clean except the front most bolt on the driver's side. It had clear oil on the bolt shaft and threads. (See picture three, RamHousingBolts).

So... where is this oil from, and on this old an engine with the miles... are the carbonated deposits on the ram tubes normal?

Thanks so much!

Joe

I would check and probably replace both pcv hose and clean out the oil separator, that will stop this to the extent you are getting. A very small amount might slip in over the years, but not what you have.

i wouldnt be concerned, it looks like most of it is dry, and cooked on, which means its old, and yeah, over 15 years and 100k miles, youre burning a lot of oil fumes and blowby. but it doesnt look like much has come back since the cleaning, which is good, means you dont have too much blowby, and your rings are still in good shape, or that your pcv system isnt doing anything at all. check the hoses, make sure theyre not cloged, because if anything, you aught to be concernd of how clean those look
