a couple more shots. Cleaned up everything and power washed it at the local DIY car wash. Hope the leak is gone.

That looks good. I am getting mentally prepared to do my oil pan gasket and Crankshaft seal this week. Thanks for the tip on tightening those oil plug bolts on the front cover. That could be another source of my leaks.

tito5590805 Did you run a bead of Ultra Black silicone all the way around the oil pan gasket on the bottom side? Your crank and lower engine look good.

I've done a couple of oil pan gaskets. The last one a couple weeks ago on my 04 Disco. It only takes a extra couple of minutes to drop the front of the drive line and unhook the steering at the ball joint. Having these two bars out of the way makes life easy. Also take the time to really clean everything, including the pick up tube. You don't want any reason to go back in before you need to.

Nope! Only the 4 places that RAVE instructed to do so. Why? you planning on putting some RTV on all the underside of the gasket?

I spent a good amount of time cleaning every bit of old RTV sealant at the underside of the block and the sump mating faces. I havent put back the plastic under cover yet, as I wanted to check for leaks, so far nothing on my driveway. I plan on getting under there later today after work to double check for any leaks, then I'll intall the plastic cover again.

Toss the plastic cover in the garbage bin.

First I removed that plastic cover under the engine, (make sure you raise your Disco for the extra clearance needed between the sump and the front axle), next I also removed the cross member for allowing room to manuver the sump out. Then I undid all the bolts and dropped the oil sump. I followed RAVE to the dot!

It was rather simple, but extremely messy IMO. I'm glad I did it though because I confirmed the leak! Here are some pictures as they speak for themselves.
I see that the oil sump gasket slightly protrudes from the corner near the front cover. Is this normal? I just replaced mine and found it identical to your photo. A note: all the gasket locating "pins" appear to be in and proper. Thanks!
