I get the order for all the bolts holding the sump. But, the RAVE doesn't say anything about the ones that connect to the bell housing. Do I tighten these first? I would imagine they pull against the others. If even a little bit.
Or should I torque the others first, then the vertical ones?

 

I would tighten the bell housing bolts last. Seems to me that tightening them first could interfere with the rear of the pan seating fully against the gasket/block along the back end of the pan.

Don't over think it. Follow the Order specified in the RAVE. Then, hit the bell housing bolts (16ft/lbs). Don't forget the Permatex

 

Done and done. I did the sump bolts first. Then the bell housing bolts. And used some very thin ultra black permatex all around. So far so good.
