Default Ok, what's missing here

Hi, we just purchased our a '04 Disco SE and I decided to spend the day getting to know it, and as I was looking underneath it, and saw this opening, can anyone of you guys tell me what should be there and what it is called so I can get a new one. Pics are attached. The area is behind the oil pan.

That's your flywheel inspection hole. There's one on each side. It's supposed to have a rubber plug over it. I'd suggest contacting Abran or Paul Grant for a set so your flywheel doesn't end up catching any rocks.

I wouldn't be concerned, just be sure to get a new one. If your flywheel does catch a rock that's gonna be a really bad time.

As for that which you just found, that's a wheel speed sensor plug. There should be a female end that looks just like it somewhere around. Just fond it and plug them back together. You probably have the 3 amigos illuminated since its unplugged. If they have been on long enough then you'll need a special scanner like an ABS Amigo to clear them. Otherwise your ABS and traction control will not function.

That is an ABS sensor plug. You should have an ABS fault

unless it's been updated with the hard-wired sensor and someone just left the old wiring there

Thanks, I have no ABS faults showing up, and I cannot locate the other end to the plug anywhere. So like jbarr89 said its probably a left over.

Get a code reader that reads all codes including abs and find out for sure.

Or if you don't want to drop the cash on that then pull the instrument cluster apart and check the bulbs for tape, paint, or from having actually been removed.
