Default Oopps i broke it... but do i need to fix it?

So i tried to take the fan clutch off today, turns out it really is needed to get the PAS pump back in. But.... like before i do not have a fan wrench. Seems like it wouldn't be on there too tight so i stick a flat blade screwdriver between the fins to hold it. Sure enough it snapped off one of the little fins on the clutch.....getting the fan wrench tomorrow because the fan is still not off. My question is this, does the whole clutch need to be replaced because one of the fins broke off? I am a poor broke college kid so money is tight, pump and belt nearly killed me. Will it be too out of balance if i run it with the one fin broke off? Think that it would work if i JB welded it back on....next point man i love JB weld..... Thanks for any help you can give me.

-keep the rubber side down-

Man that is a tough call.
The peice you broke off does not weigh anything but at high speed a gram weighs a ton.
JB Weld wont hold at those speeds I dont think.
You may want to look into a used fan clutch.
DII's fan clutches are not that expensive so maybe a used one will be close to free.

Shouldn't be too big a deal. Mabe break off the fin on the other side, and then 90* off so it makes a cross? If you run it and it doesn't vibrate, should be ok. Honestly, anything you do to try to reattach it will probably add more weight than it took off, so you'll never get it balanced again anyway.

God, these words of wisdom could scare you.
You will need a new clutch because of a balance issue and the fact that the fins are also a heat sink and will effect how and when the clutch activates.

you can drive around with a clutch fan as long as you don't get caught in traffic. if it is cold you will be fine. If it gets warm you got a problem.

NO to the jb weld...good stuff but not for this problem.
In my opinion , I would just reinstall it and hope for the best.....just one of those little finns wont really effect the operation, given the relatively small dia of the clutch , and the fact that it's fluid filled anyway the balance shouldn't be an issue either.....start saving for a new one. Let us know how things go

well it turned out that there were two that broke off on the one side, so i broke two off opposite to them. I put everything back together after replacing the PAS pump. Started the rover, bled the steering, and drove off to the car wash to wash out the engine compartment. I didn't remember to check to see if the clutch was vibrating until i got home because there was no vibration coming from it what so ever. So i guess they do not need to be that in balance. BTW take the fan off when you do the PAS pump, i learned the hard way.
