I would think this was a temporary fix.

What year do you have? THere is a guy parting out a 96 and still has all of the driveline on it.

I think he is rather inexpensive....

if not, try www.roverlandparts.com.

Hi!

I did this repair in my 94 Disco about 1 year and a half ago, and at this time, the repair is still working fine. I removed all the rust and pit, and heated the piece in a oven, then applied the JW Weld and when it was completely hardened, I sanded with a wet sand paper until all the ball was smooth. Tried to paint the ball with an epoxy paint, but the grease dissolved the paint.

I checked the repair last week, and it seems to be in an excellent condition. I really dont know how long it will work, but... 1 year and a half.... seems to be good for me! If you have time, you can repair it, and then you can start searching for a cheap swivel ball. I have bought some VERY VERY cheap spare parts from Ebay UK.

Hope it helps!

Or you can drain out the gear oil and replace it with the new Rover swivel grease, it will hardly leak.

Did this on mine as the bolts were very much seized and didn't want to risk breaking them while trying to remove the swivel ball...so far, so good.
