Default over heating

I have an 01 D2 that I replaced the thermostat and flushed the system. I'm having a hard time bleeding the air from the system. Every time I think I have it it still over heats. How can I tell for certain that the water pump is working. I do notice white fumes from the exhaust and did notice moisturefrom the header to the exhaust where they bolt together. What's my next move?

Hate to say it, but it could be head gaskets. A free check would be to fill your expansion tank to the brim and leave the cap off. Do this while it's cold of course. Then crank it and watch for bubbles. Rev it a little while doing this. If you see a lot of bubbles, then next step would be to go to autozone and rent a block tester kit for free when you return it. Run that test to check for exhaust gases in expansion tank. If you find them, then it's either HGs, cracked block or head. If not, you may have a bad tstat, or a clog somewhere in your cooling system. Also, check for milkshake on your oil cap or dipstick. Another sign of HGs.

Classic symptom of a blown head gasket, (if you're lucky,) or a cracked block (if you're not.)
Of course, by "lucky" I mean you might just have to replace your head gaskets as opposed to the entire engine.

BTW - overheating on a D2 is anything above 50% on the gauge, and even before it moves off 50%. Use a scanner or Ultra Gauge to show actual temps. Repeated overheats help warp heads and can start sleeves slipping, which is rather pricey to fix.

did you have this problem before you replaced the t-stat? if not then it's probably not a head gasket.
