Default Dealer

One advantage to having the dealer do the work is that it will be warranted and that warranty might just transfer back to Ohio if anything else goes wrong in the next few months that's related.

It will cost you a bundle to have it towed long distance (requires a flatbed) and the difference between white Mike suggested and the dealer wants is $850. I can spend that much on a concert and dinner.

Might also be worth asking the dealer to negotiate a bit for your business.

I was wondering what the outcome of your overheating issue was. I'll be living in Norfolk for at least the next year and can use any advice. Thanks!

xmarksit, they may not be watching a thread several years old. What kind of overheating issues are you having?

Just learning! Having my maintainance fund is nice, but knowing how to avoid using it is better - thanks for reaching out!

My oil was clean with no coolant in it and I dropped a sleeve under similar circumstances. Not trying to be a downer but it is POSSIBLE. Hopefully it is just a head gasket.
Geotrash brings up a good point...work done at a dealer with a transferable warranty on it is worth something. Lots of tradeoffs when you are looking to do car repairs while you are out on the road.
