Default p0430

Hello,

I just had a new cat installed on the pass side along with gaskets to fix some leaks at the manifold to pipe joint. I was getting code P0430 before and I still have it. Will this code clear itself or do I have to clear it. I've gone about 80 miles since I had this installed.

Thanks,
Steve

You'ld have to clear it. It is also the kind of code that can pop back up, but waits until you have been through two days of driving.

Nearly all codes must be cleared, not by disconnecting the battery, but with a scanner, to get rid of them after a repair.

Thanks, I cleared the code...just waiting for all the moniters to be ready. The only one that was reporting not ready last time was the Evap....any suggestions as to why? The evap is not throwing any codes, just not showing as ready.

Just keep an eye on it for a new evap code. The ECU is watching the system for a possible problem and is not yet ready to throw a hard fault on it.

so mine is not throwing a check engine light but is showing on a code reader p0430? is it not bad enough to throw a code? its saying on the reader Catalyst system efficiency below threshold. do you think a good cleaning of the cat would help. that side ran rich for 2 years due to bad coil. or should i just go for full replacement?
