P1172 P1175 Codes
Hello
Well I had 3 days of good driving and running ( after replacing the o2 sensors) in the 2002 Disco before the dreaded check engine light came on. The codes thrown are P1172 & P1175. After some investigating here on the forum I see it could be a vacuum leak, a MAF sensor, or a dirty air cleaner. I checked the air cleaner and it is surprisingly clean, still bright yellow and with soft rubber seals. I did notice that the hose connecting to the filter has one of its clamps broken off. Could this be enough of a leak to throw those two codes? The truck is running well otherwise. Is this something that needs immediate attention? Should I stop driving the truck? We are planning to drive the truck 700 miles to Ohio in 2 weeks, I assume I should get his addressed before we leave. Any thoughts or suggestions would be, as always, appreciated.
Cheers
Gabe

I will tape it up as well as inspecting that hose and tape it up also. Advanced Auto Parts should be able to clear the codes and as long as they stay off I'm ok, right? Thanks as always for the response.

On Buzz's "advice" I will look for leaks in that hose as well as the seal at the box, tape them up and then clear the codes and hope it is a simple fix. If they come back then I suppose it's time to check the MAF or some other vaccum leak. Does that seem like a reasonable course of action?

Well I took off the sensor, cleaned it with mass airflow sensor cleaner, cleaned out the air filter case, and the hoses. Then I used trusty old duct tape to tape up the clamp that broke off between the sensor and the hose and I cleared the codes; low and behold it worked! Service engine light is out and I am happy...for now!
That is good, shout if you need help finding a used air filter box lid.
Also, unless you have codes that would point towards a MAF issue, leave it alone. Quite often in checking/testing or cleaning the MAF many people kill what was most likely an OK MAF

Yes, I am relieved. I ran all day long and no new issues (knock on wood). In order for a new lid to be of use I'd need the MAF too as the clip is broken on the MAF side and the metal part attached to the air filter box lid has fallen off. So, while the filter lid might be cheap the MAF is not so I think the $3 duct tape fix is my solution until the Disco forces my hand
Also wanted to relay a funny story: I keep the Rave manual on my iPad and I took it out to perform this repair. I finished, closed up the hood, and drove to Autozone to clear the code and when I came home I couldn't find the iPad anywhere. I opened the hood back up and there was the iPad sitting in top of the battery safe and sound! A lucky day indeed, a $3 fix for a Rover AND I drove 4 miles with the iPad in the engine compartment. As my Dad would say, "I must have a horseshoe up my ***!"
