Looks phenomenal. Cracking work.

Was there any reason, other than to make it look fantastic? (Forgive me for not reading whole thread :/)

Question that I MUST ask regarding vents. I am seeing concern about it raining in the engine compartment with vents. I read this after watching the History Of Camel Trophy, in which these trucks spent a better part of half the time completely submerged in nasty African river water. My question is.....Is rain water worse that African sewer rivers? Personally after watching some of that show, I would be more apt to seal my passenger compartment and install a fricken periscope before I worried about water in the engine compartment.

I vote for sewer water being worse, and I consider rain to be a free car wash (and engine wash).

The final final on the engine paint is that I'd definitely do it again. Looks COOL.

However, when I put my unpainted alternator and air conditioner compressor up front.... Ugh, turds on fine china. I didn't feel like cleaning the alternator to paint by the time I got to that and painting the compressor would be easier, but I'd have to do it over the engine.

No good reason. I was bored and in my tacky work clothes so I had to do something. I'd basically decided not to do it but when I saw that I was going to be rained out, I lept into action.

Here are the full shots.

Exhaust manifolds are matte black (very high temp paint). .

I used a wire wheel on all of the bolt heads to make them shine until I got to the water pump. I put the rtv on and then remembered the bolts. Since the rtv clock was counting I abandoned the wire wheel plan.

The camel trophy trucks were different because they were diesels. Our V8s have a lot more delicate electronics. That's the only reason I don't have hood vents.

That's true. And I hate them. Delicate is the perfect word. And in truth I have had odd stutters just after washing my engine at the car wash. But they went away.

Alex I should mention (because I am too lazy to find the other thread) that I used different valve covers for paint and when I swapped the hoses I found that my oil separator was gone on the driver side, which was the one that had the gunked breather filter. Answers that question...

Duramax. Ford axles.
