I hate to revive my own dead thread but here it goes.
I was going to swap my engine today but...
So that's out. And I've been cleaning the engine like crazy, even the parts that you can't see...
With a toothbrush. This thing is CLEAN. So since my original plan is shot and I will have to wait until next weekend. I went to the paint shop and got their finest rattle can paint an primer. Engine will be gray and front cover, pan, upper intake, and valve covers will be gloss red. Undecided on manifolds but I have to remove them first anyway.
Paint place said on the larger components just to be careful not to scratch them and the engine heat will bake the finish.
I'll post pictures if I actually go through with it. I have a bag of paint cans but I kept the receipt.

By the way I googled it and a painted aluminum block radiates heat better than a bare one, and the color of the paint is irrelevant because all paint is back in the infrared spectrum.
Got the front cover, including water pump, oil pan, upper intake, and valve covers. Matte black high temp for the exhaust manifolds and gloss gray for the engine.
