DISCOVERY 2 TD5 2003 - PARK DISTANCE CONTROL
PROBLEM:
When selecting reverse gear "R" park distance control sound an distinct noise (higher than the normal note) for 5 seconds and turns off. Especially in rainy or snowy days.
SOLUTION:
First check 4 sensors at rear bumper that they are operating or not. Turn the ignition "ON", don't start the motor. Select reverse gear "R" and put your finger gently on the sensor. If they are tickling your finger, the sensors are OK.
If the sensors are OK, the problem might be same as mine. When there is rain or snow, Discovery 2 tends to get water inside from rear light housings. Because the designers place the Park Distance Control Unit under the light housing with connectors looking up, it will easily gets water from the connectors and the connector housing.
I remove the Park Distance Control Unit and clean the Unit and the connectors with the contact cleaner. Then put it back upside down. Now the connectors are facing bottom. Now it is working fine. DISCOVERY2 2003 PARK DISTANCE CONTROL
