Default Parking Prawl - cable adjustment

Ok, 2000 disco 11 that I've just noticed slides when in Park ( on hilly drive). I always set my parking brake so I have never noticed this. Only had it a year but I had forgot to pull the PB a few days ago and down went the rover until I jumped in and pulled the PB. I have done plenty of research and it seems you can adjust the D1 with a nut under the shifter **** but don't see anything on the D2 ( couple dead end threads ). The key also gets stuck once in a while in the ignition which seems to another sign the Parking Prawl is not fully engaging. The previous clown, who beat the hell out of it, told me he had the key cut wrong and that's why it stuck. But after reading the threads I have to believe it is in need of an adjustment!
Thanks....

A lot of people thinking using just the parking pawl is ok and no need to use the brake. It may be that's what the PO did.

That nut under the shifter on the D1 is pure fiction. It is not connected to the shift cable in any way whatsoever.

I have problems with my D1 "creeping" when it's in park. Tried the aforementioned shifter nut adjustment, no luck. Sometimes I just have to slam the shifter into park two or three times before it catches.

The cable can be adjusted at the transmission.

I will take a pic or two when I get under there ( next few days) and post for future reference.
It's amazing how many people think you don't have to set the brake to protect the tranny.........like it's a big hassle or something!

Except in the winter in Alaska, if you set the parking brake you might find yourself under the truck with a torch (not a flashlight) trying to unfreeze the park brake. I learned the hard way
