PCV Question
I am having a problem with an excessive amout oil being sucked into the plenum from the PCV valve. I have changed the valve and now am at a loss of where to look next. Any ideas??? The heads have been done and the only thing that is not factory is the thermostat mod. Temp stays at about 188 all the time. Thanks Jimmie

Yes, that is what I am refering to...oil separator. I did the head gaskets at 60,000 and now at 70,000. Everything looked great when I took it apart. I did a leak down test (cold) after doing the heads and every cylinder look good with no loss of pressure. I am seeing a good amout of oil in the plenum looking past the throttle plate and losing 1/2 a quart every 1000 miles.

Any blue smoke out the exhaust?
When you did the head gaskets did you also do valve seals?
What brand and viscosity oil are you using? How often do you change it?
Any wet-with-oil area under the intake manifold on top of the valley pan, or back of valley pan and down the engine back side?

Believe it or not I have no oil leaks. I am not seeing any smoke and used all new gaskets. When apart I did mill heads and installed new valve seals. I have been running Castrol 10-30 oil and change it every 3000 miles if not sooner. Thanks for all the the replies. I am going to look as suggested for a clogged vacuum line to start with. Sure would be nice if that was it! Jimmie

See attached, seems like it would have to be a big line to do this. Perhaps from other valve cover? Were all lines re-attached after head work?
If rings are suspect, a compression test might reveal something. Low pressure in one cylinder, old skool was to add some oil to cylinder, and run test again, if pressure goes up it is rings, if no change, valves/seals.
One professional tech member has suggested a vac leak finding method of removing air hose to filter, and stuffing in an oil filter or some thing else to block it off. Should make an open line sign louder, not sure what it would do for a congested one.
