Default Please help

I am so tired of paying the big bills at dealerships with this disco, just got it out of the shop two months ago and something else believe it or not has gone wrong. If anyone can help I am open to any help, here we go. As the car warms up it tends to start overheating but really overheats when I come to a stop. The heater also only blows warm when the car is driving and blows cold when i come to a stand still. I hope this is a simple fix any and all help would be great, love the car but hate when it breaks.

Thanks

Have you checked the coolant level when the engine is cold (sitting over night)? The seam in the reservoir tank (where the top and bottom sections are joined) is the max fill line. DO NOT DRIVE IF THE TRUCK IS OVERHEATING!!!! You can drop a sleeve and you'll need to replace the entire engine. When it's overheated (aluminum engines can't tolerate it) pull over to the side of the road, keep the engine running, roll the windows down and set the a/c to max heat and max fan speed. Just turning the engine off will continue to cook it as there is no where for the heat to escape fast enough.

You are low on coolant, when you are driving the water pump is turning fast enough to push what little coolant there is through the heater, when you are stopped it is not turning fast enough to push coolant through the heater.

Open the hood, on your right there will be a clear looking bottle with a cap and a H2O tag, open it when the engine is cold and fill it with coolant. Fill it full.
Check it everyday when the engine is cold for the next week adding coolant as needed.
DO NOT OVERHEAT THE ENGINE!!

If you have a D2, you'll need to use DexCool, the pink stuff. Get the premixed 50/50 water to coolant kind. You may also need to clear some air bubbles out of the system if the level has gotten too low.

Unless you are doing a complete coolant flush and fill you must use DexCool because it is NOT compatable with other coolants.
If you mix anyother coolant with it it will turn into a non pumpable goo.

Also if you use DexCool you MUST drain and fill every two years, DexCool is corrosive and it eats gaskets.

All DII's came with DexCool from the factory, almost all DII's have blown headgaskets at 80,000 miles or so.
