Not to make fun but they all leak oil, I swear it oozes though the castings.

I will check the trans cooler for leaks again, but so far I haven't seen any fluid coming from there. I regularly check from underneath with a flashlight. The red color could be coolant which would indicate a head gasket problem. I will check the oil drops for coolant (hot plate sizzle test) if I can collect enough.

When I had a power steering leak I could not nail down, I would tape pieces of paper towel in specific locations where I thought it may leak. If it stayed dry I knew that was not the source.

Might help you, if the leak is higher up, you can eliminate downstream possibilities.

Discorama... could you say a bit more about the "hot plate sizzle test?" What are you looking for in the "sizzle"? thanks!!

Just make sure to take a look at the cooler itself, not just the hoses. I'm mostly saying this b/c my oil cooler sprung a small leak in one of the ribs by the manifold and all that oil was being sucked into the engine bay and getting splattered all over the block. I thought i had a front seal leak and it took me 2 hours to figure out what was actually going on.
