His 3 Amigo's come & go and haven't set a hard fault yet. The last time I ever had a D2 act weird like that it was the ABS wheel sensor wiring at the plug causing bad readings and making the ABS think to engage that one wheel at random times. Customer said it would drive em nuts on their dirt road to their house. I duplicated it and tracked it down pretty quickly after that.

 

They are off at the moment. They haven't come on since I did the option B fix. I haven't tested the HDC, certainly never considered it lol.

That is good to know about the ABS faults. I did drive with the three amigos for a while. Granted, they were coming on and off randomly as I drove around. I just get worried about how it handles when the issue is occurring like the brakes are locked up. I guess I'm more worried it'll bury the truck to the frame in the sand if it happens long enough. Talk about a PITA, but not I'm always prepared for it.

I meant to work on it yesterday, but life happened. Probably can't get to it again until Thursday at this point. Planning on doing some live testing then to see if any of the sensors are showing inconsistent data. What your customer experienced sounds similar to what I am seeing. Hopefully it is something that easy.

 

Had some time this morning to drive around a bit. I put the foxwell on and pulled up the live data. About 30 seconds after I started the engine it abruptly stopped saying that it had lost contact with the computer and could no longer access data -_-. Up to that point, it was showing the wheel sensor data and everything was inline, but not many data points.
I took the truck for a ~20 minute spin trying to get the data back. Stopped for gas, turned the truck back on and three familiar lights were back on the dash. Checked the ABS codes and shuttle valve switch failure was present. I guess my attempt to resurrect the old assembly hasn't worked out. Would this assembly being faulty cause my issue? Probably not right? It never did it in the past.

 

When you did the Option B update you did cut out the big old black plug that originally went up into the Wabco unit right? You cut it out, then route your wires out (one to Yellow/Green wire & the other to ground).

 

Sigh. No. I saw two methods for option b. I opted for leaving the button in and splicing to the yellow green wire and the other ground. I didn't see any mention of there being an issue leaving it in so I did. 🤦

 

Remove it the next time you mess with it.
