Default Plug wire install questions? Disco II

I have a bad wire, It is causing a misfire,so I need to replace wires. It completely fell apart when i changed plugs, as well as 2 plug threads, which i heli coiled.

I Called shop, they want $350 to do change wires. I would like to do this myself, but I am Not sure I want to take of intake myself.

I have searched and found a post on our forum that says you can change wires without removing intake.

But the pictures on the post, do not show what was actually done to do this. Does anyone know of a good link that shows how to do this?

2002 Discovery, 4.0 Liter, 90k miles,

Thanks

I did this myself a few months back. It does take a little time and if you have one more person it makes it easier. You need a bent screwdriver and what helped me was a telescopic mirror. Make sure you do one wire at a time and tag your wires. If you have SAI remove the tubes that run behind the engine. You do not have to take off the intake manifold (plenum)

It's only 8 wires... don't let it intimidate you.

I also encourage you to do this. I was in your situation a year ago but thanks to the write ups and my girlfriend we got it done in about 2 hours.
We did one wire at a time time which greatly reduces any chance for errors.
Follow the write up, remove the necessary tubes, pines, hoses. Having someone with small hands also helps. In my case i had my girlfriend lay on the engine and with her small hands she was able to reach back there and remove the wires.

Good luck.

We did this last year & just used the thread & pics here & it went well all in all.

We did end up breaking one of the brittle hoses going to the Throttle Body Heater which we replaced with a real hose as a temp fix but decided it was a better replacement so left it.

We also did end up crossing two wires at the coil pack which was easily noticeable on test start & not too hard to fix either since I have smaller hands & was able to get the two loose & changed without pulling everything apart again.

This saved me about a $1000.00 minus my parts based on what LandRover wanted to do this.

Lay some blankets or a camping sleeping pad on top of the engine and lie face/chest down on the engine. Be careful to not put pressure directly on the brake servo vacuum pipe or the other line that connects into the intake plenum. They will break.

I am blessed with girlie-man hands, so replacing the wires without removing the plenum was doable but took some patience. Have faith and take your time.

Cool, got new wires in today. Thanks for all the info guys.

And Thanks for giving me Deep blue waters install link mwindth. Followed steps, worked well. Took me awhile but saved 350 bucks or more just in labor.

It really is a bad place to have a coil pack mounted.
