I think 'head gasket' is the Rover mechanics' go-to diagnosis for pretty much everyone who rolls in with a Discovery 2. Name: lxvR5hR.png

Losing compression at the heads or so was told... I mean they were basically like its the head gasket and its a lot to fix. Car is kind of a rust bucket anyway so we agreed it didn't make sense to put the money in. So i picked up a 2006 LR3 mint locally.

WHERE WERE YOU PEOPLE BEFORE??? haha

im having this same issue but mine is extremly loud. it started as an exaust leak i just did the manifold gaskets same thing im going to do the gasket below the manifold now. i just did my head gaskets i know those arent bad. someone suggested its timing ping because my cam is going out. it sounds like if you lug a manual vehicle in too low of rpm and get that timing ping. i really hope its not the cam i dont want to open up the engine again so soon, since i did the head gaskets 6 months ago. anyone think it could be just that other exaust gasket or am i spending time and money just to need to replace the cam in the end anyway?
