No problems at 81. JB Weld on a head?! Ummm...
JB weld just where the Head mates to the valve cover gasket in one small place. There is an indentation. I appreciated him not selling me an expensive fix.

What is your thought process going to 81? L8 said 80, AB 85 and ARP 70. I’m leaning towards ARP’s 70

man, if there were shorty headers I would do it, but the headers are for when I learn to weld.

P38 came stock with "tubular manifolds" aka shorty headers. I looked into using a set at one point but ioted for the long tubes. Just an idea, that may not be your perfect solution.

Not all that uncommon. Mopar guys totally fill their push rod a intake manifold bolt holes with epoxy so they can re-drill them at an offset so they can port their heads out bigger.

Great thought, but I looked them up and unfortunately I don’t have the facilities to fab them in.

Oh, nothing scientific! I was probably thinking "75 ft pounds is factory for head bolts" and that "85 ft pounds that Atlantic British did in the youtube video for ARP studs was near the thread limits" and then just picked something roughly in between those 2 values.

As in, I didn't have the guts to go to 85 ft pounds, just bein' honest.

I’m not going to 85!

I did find some short headers in Australia, ASI Performance and have an email to see if they will first fit, and second deliver to US.

I know I have seen D2 shorty headers that supposedly bolt in, and they were around $480.
I put them on my long "to-do" list.

That is way too much money for short headers. The ones from Australia are less, but I do not believe they ship to the US. Two of the boltholes on my manifolds are totally buggered, but I will probably put them back on.
