Default Power Seat Manual Adjust

Hi All, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I just got my 2004 Disco2 over the weekend, and am trying to iron out some of the fixes it needs.

One thing is that the power seats up front don't work. Using information from here, I determined the underseat fuses and relays are ok.

Until I can get that sorted out, I pondered a quick and dirty fix (we have ppl coming and a little legroom in the back seats would be nice). I read several places that you can adjust the seats with a power drill. But I can't figure that out either.

The assembly looks like this, where would you spin anything to make it work?

Thanks in advance!

I would look further into the switch mech for the seat.

The switch is just there to touch two wires together in a fancy way. It's full of ball bearings and little contacts. See if you can get behind the switch and jump the connection yourself.

Alternatively identify the motor in question and apply 12v direct to it.

With the motor and worm gear it no doubt uses, I'd be surprised if there was an easy manual way to move the seat.

Disclaimer. Any of this is at your own risk.

Thanks! I'm going to try cleaning the switches and adding some power directly.

Hey guys I have somewhat similar problem. 2000 disc 2 v8 156k miles. I'm having an issue where everything on the switches work. But the seat will not move back or forward. But I can hear the motor activating when I press the switch and the seat tries to move a little bit but then seizes up it feels like. I feel like the motor is just stuck and needs to be freed. How do I manually move the seat to "unseize"the motor?

4 bolts and the seat comes out completely. One pin and you have the motor loose, two it is out. I had a penny stuck in the tracks, one I got that out it worked. There are thermal fuses in the motor that are known to fail open permanently, they can soldered closed but it is not easy. Not much can be done without taking the seat loose.
