In responce to a pryor post I made, im still getting bad results..

My first attempt, since I couldnt find a factory new gasket, I appemted to just use RTV..
As stated in my last post, the RTV inhibited the movement of the pump pully and didnt work well..

That Failed obviously, so I took other measures

I could only find a 1/32 gasket rudbber/composite gasket and we installed that..
In both attempts, I have yet to get any consistent power steering feel..

On my second attempt with the known larger gasket, I get a bettter steering wheel performance, but still its terrible..

With my first run with just RTV I got sparatic bursts of normal steering.. but with second attempt with larger gasket, Im getting none of that, just ok/crappy steering, but not the hard as hell steering..

Am I just dealng with a blown pump all together?? I got absolutely no gear box whinning noise on the larger gastket attempt which makes me think the pump went bad...

 

Did you bleed the air from the steering box.

 

Does it whine the whole time the engine is running? If so it's a bad pump just had to replace mine about a 1-2hr job due to all the stuff you have to remove to even get to the pump.

Lol, I pass the turn off for FLW every time I go visit the in-laws in Rolla, and I bought my Landy from a gal on base, then flat-bedded back to Columbia.
